Tilapia buttikoferi and Parachromis Dovii!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont think it will work. We are talking about a tank, 4 walls, no where to run. Once one of them is breeding (Especially the big bigger Dovii), it will kill the other fish just by thinking they are a threat.

When fish fight one another, it isnt just because they are mad, fish think in terms of survival. Its a kill or be killed existance.

A Butti killed your Dovii, my Dovii almost annihalated my Butti in less than 2 minutes.
i think he was saying the butti got killed

I think everyone immediately thinks of the BIGGEST of each of these fish they have ever seen and draws their conclusion.

I personally think it will work. I have little doubt. I have been wrong before but we are talking 600 gallons. There will be a few scuffles but once they establish "their" side of the tank, life will be grand.

i would try as long as you used something to block their line of sight , light driftwood or something so when they are in there territory they can not see each other

Shall i put the T. Buttikoferi in the tank when they are about 20 cm? Or shall i wait until they are bigger?

You talked about a 50cm male Dovii being in a tank with 20cm fish of any species believe me it doesn't matter what they are, you are courting disaster.
Unless they have shelter and a place for them to hide from aggression.
A 50cm male Dovii can do what he likes and killing other fish, girlfriends, tank mates is what they often do.
Tank set up will be especially important for line of sight and hiding places.
600g is big so landscape it well so the he's territory is away from the other fishes.

Wouldn't even try..their both one of the meanest and strongest cichlids out there..just becareful if you want give it a try..but if the male butti meet's the female dovii he may kill her..biggest butti I ever seen was 16 inch male..they get big too. the male dovii and male butti would work..both of the species of females, will prob get killed.
