I currently have sand and am fed up with being moved around and sticking to rays, however tank is in living room so don't like bare bottom.

I think I'd like a tile bottom or a heavier grain sand like unipac tana but am concerned about the maintenance and debris sinking in it etc.

Which tiles are suitable to go in tanks and won't affect ph etc. anyone got examples of theirs? I'm in the uk and any links to any would be appreciated.

Thanks

interested - I am not sure Myself

You could paint the bottom of the tank black........ive had good luck with a thin layer of torpedo beach sand

Thanks but tank is set up so don't really want to drain. Its also a double base so would see the silicone between the two panes.

i like sand - However, I would think any kind of tile would work as long as it dosent have like a glue backing or whatever - ceramic tile should work fine

Any kind of natural stone tile will work, ceramic, slate, marble. ect

Tiles are cool but people complain about the Algae. I thought of the idea of putting a sheet of polyethylene as a base (Black or Blue)

Thanks everyone. Next question what colour is going to be best to bring out the rays colours.

I have a leopaldi and a marble so was thinking of just going with a sand coloured stone style ceramic tile?

Keep in mind tiles are much much lighter under water, reds look pink and tans look white. So you either want to test it before if you can or look for much darker varients
