Hey guys wondering about putting ceramic tile in the bottom of my aquarium ? I have seen lots of tanks with this and can not find a video or proper explanation on how to do it? Is ceramic tile bad for your fish ? I see lots of video of tanks like this and like it much more than just bare tanks. Anyways any help or suggestion on this topic will be greatly appreciated. :):):):)

I've seen it done in person a bunch of times. It looks great. The only thing that I have heard is the crap that settles under the tiles. The tiles are just layed in nice and tight. I don't have any experience with this but my guess is you will have to tilt up tiles and suck out the crap every once in a while.

Have you thought about Slate Tiles? Looks more natural, won't affect water quality, and fish love to spawn on it. Many colors and surface textures to choose from with slate.

Yeah I've had the tile in one if my tanks and I didn't like the idea of all of the broken down waste that found its way under the tiles....

No i haven't really got into any thoughts yet as I have just started to think about tiles tonight. lol Where would sell slate tiles and yeah just thinking now I could just lay them in they dont float lol hahaha
As for waste I first thought of draining the tank and silicone the tile to the bottom pane of the tank. That way no wast could get in.

I have it in my tank an like it so far...havent had a problem with waste under tiles yet im about 2 weeks in but do alot of water changesuploadfromtaptalk1387416511330.jpguploadfromtaptalk1387416613620.jpg

It's definitely a beautiful look when done right with the right colors...I haven't decided if I am going to put the tile back in or just go old school and go with gravel.

Wow see your fish and tile joshlandis24 was what I first seen tonight, I mean iv seen other tanks but yours was the first tonight that got me thinking lol. What kind of tile did you use and where did you get it and exactly how did you do it ? what dimensions is your tank ?

Couldn't you silicone the tiles in and make a silicone barrier so nothing can get under them> (waste)?

I guess that is possible but the lines probably won't look as clean as they do in the above photos.
