says who? in that case, fish shouldnt live in glass boxes ;) my buddy has had one in a bare bottom tank for about 2yrs now, couldnt be healthier
 
If you must use a tile, then i would say 3 looks probably most natural imo...

its like giving a dog a dog bed. sure it can do without it, but why not give it that comfort. your argument is = to me saying dogs should of been left as wolves which in that case..i would have to agree but the fact remains they have been domesticated. tank is hot no doubt...im just saying you cant tell me the turtle doesn't seem different or stressed without the sand.

i had a sideneck turtle that also is a "sand turtle" and i saw the difference asap. they like the kick the sand up and put it over their shell
 
#3 has the most natural look, it is very nice, However if you want colors of your fish to "pop", go with the #4.. The orangey color has a great contrast with the greens of the P-bass, Which are beautiful by the way!!
