Do you think I could waterproof the inside of my ply tank with tile instead of epoxy painting?

Tile would make for a nice tank, silicone should work instead of grout

tile should work kinda like a tile swimming pool, maybe someone with some background in swimming pool's could give you a little more info on that.

This is all before Gunnite ot Shotcrete...

The old city Aquariums were tiled.

In Marrakesh raised tiled carp ponds have been around for centuries.

The easiest way is to use silicone for both the thin set and the grout. clean the ceramic tile edges to degrease/dewax them so the silicone will stick. It's preferable that the plywood box (pond) be very stiff (the less flexure the less possibility of fracture leaks.

Or if you just want to fake it http://www.tileswithstyle.com/lilypadcu.htm

Those tiles are ace!!! I was thinking of doing a roman style mozaic on the back wall...then I remembered it has taken 3 months for me to finish the frame...nearly! So prehaps pass on that idea.... I know why kings had servants now...

I just want to coat this pond with anything that'll chip my dogs teeth...

Im not sure you could make the plywood stiff enough, flex would mean failure. It would make an awesome retro looking tank though

Silicone makes it a little forgiving.
