hmmmm... Tiles (as I clean the adheasive off my hands from installing the kitchen floor ;) )

Huh ... might have to think about that one as an option since i have like 4 cases left over from this project ;)

And you thought you were going to be stuck with them.

Check with some of the flooring suppliers/installers in your area. They might have some scraps or leftovers or end-of-run sets that they'd be willing to part with. Maybe check with some counter-top installers, too. You might be able to snag a chunk of corian or granite that could cover the entire bottom of the tank.

If its pieces of granite you want I have truck loads of scrap slabs. Anybody wanting to drive to Texas and has a truck can have as much as they can carry.

Nope I thought I'd pick up the extra and get the discount which basically meant that 6 1/2 cases were free :D

Cool. I'm trying to figure out how to get some tile in for the pond without the boss wanting me to do a real project with it. Something not relating to " those damn fish".

Two concerns with slate. One is darker color and second, possible high iron content.

Lots of different shades of slate available and many an old timer still has slate bottomed tanks. In a pinch I use slate to seal cracked tank instead of glass. Silicon sticks to it just as strongly. Most of my fishroom floor is slate though so I have lots of leftover and slate tanks match very nicely.

If the OP wants to go cheap then what about some lino?

Thought about it, but most stuff I've seen is self stick. What I meant by cheap was cheaper than marble or granite.
