IN YOUR HEAD
any one got pics of gars on white tile or white sand...i got a fl gar now on tile (just put it in) and would like to see some pics of what pattern they get on it...not pationt enough to wait and see...i am also contimplating getting a few shorties to add to the tank...

white gonna flush out your gar's pattern

white/lighter background will flush out most color and pattern, darker backgrounds will usually cause a higher contrast in color and pattern--
--solomon

i plan on getting some black granite...ran out of funds for now though...got the white mainly cause i want to see my rays lightin up...also i figured the gar could look ok with a lighter pattern...if i through on a black backround with the white tile will it stay darker?

Possibly, but I think the white substrate will still cause them to lighten up considerably. You could switch out every other tile to black, so it was checkerboard. That might lessen the impact.

nobody remembers my pics?
find my gar quiz. ull see gar on white sand

i had a gar on white sand for a long time. he was the best gar that I have ever seen in fact. If you do the black background it will help.

it may also make your fish smarter as they start to develop aquatic chess/checkers skills :)

it's not possible they don't have the brains gars are |\/|ON$+3R fish they kill and eat and that's all there is to them dont talk about things you dont know about!!!!

I hope the above comment was sarcastic, especially as it's directed at MFK's most knowledgable gar expert...

EDIT: although I'm not asserting gar can play checkers :D
