find my gar quiz. ull see gar on white sand

Just looked at your quiz thread. Their patterns are washed out for sure but I think it looks cool! To me they look almost albino except for the tail. Do you still have the white sand pr have you switched it out since then?

Possibly, but I think the white substrate will still cause them to lighten up considerably. You could switch out every other tile to black, so it was checkerboard. That might lessen the impact.

if i do try that i may go with a granite/marble combo

it may also make your fish smarter as they start to develop aquatic chess/checkers skills :)

if i do that tile combo i hope it picks chess;)... as i saw a survey once that said something along the lines that higher iq's picked chess over checkers...and i think it would be cool to have a tank with 1' tall chess pices for "cover"

just found the quiz LP...glad i did the switch...this morning its spots are lighter, but much more visible then yours...

they are still in the white.... they darken up some times. i have grown some algae on the back(tryin to level out some high nutrient levels, worked like a charm) and that has darkend them. Now that the nitrates are back down to around 50 gonna clean out the algae.

sbuse, ull like it. Its interesting. Lightns some of the pattern while leavin other parts dark. as long as u have some plants and wood in there they will retain some pattern and get very nice looking.
