Time may change me, but I can't trace time.

Well all I think I'm going to go a new direction with my silver tooth fishes in 2013. I've been barking up the tree of getting all five tiger fish species for quite some time now, but circumstances in my life have changed, and I've kind of finally accepted that. I finally decided to look at this objectively. My son is being born in less than a month, I'm moving in about a year and money is getting tight. So, I sat down with the wifey and had a talk about this.

We agreed on two big issues: Money and logistics. Money, in this economy, should go without saying. Fish are expensive, money is tight and with my son being born, I decided that it would probably be best to not keep spending money on new fish and just enjoy the ones that I have.

Second, the logistics facing me to move these fish when I get out of the Army in about a year. Moving one or two fish over a foot long will be difficult, moving 6-9 will be a nightmare. If things keep going the way they're going, I figure my goliath will be at least 18" in a year and my smaller tigers will all be at least a foot by then. Then we have my juruense cat who can get huge and my PTC and scomb who could each be at or over a foot. So, as you can see, the logistics of a move could prove to be quite challenging.

So, what I've decided is to focus on my showcase fish. I am going to keep my GATF and my jur and grow them out to massive proportions. Everybody else will be sold. I'm also strongly considering a black aro so that I'll have a top, middle and bottom fish. I will house them in a 4x8 footprint tank for which I have bought lumber but haven't started building yet. I suspect having three big, flawless fish could be as impressive as having a tank full of tigers. Or so I hope. I've gotten lots of props already on my jur and my GATF has been called the nicest one on MFK more than once, so this should turn out well. I love my fish.

What do you guys think?

Sounds well thought out and good to see that you are not quitting completely. You can always pursue more tigers in the future after your situation is more stable..Congrats on your baby boy.

Thanks man. I think I'm gonna grow old Mad Max out as big as I can. We don't have enough two foot long Goliaths on this site. :D

As long aa you keep teaching about tigers at large, chnge is authorized.

Yay!

I will continue my studies.

I've been building an article for about a little over a week now. It'll be worth the wait. ;)

Is this one a keeper?

Yep, he's a keeper. That's my Goliath. My goal is to get him over two feet. He's at 10" right now. :)

I would ggo silver Aro. Blacks are much more mellow and less able to cope with your malfeasant association.

And, in the end, except for drop eye, they all look alike when grown.
