TIMER AND LIGHTING QUESTION

Does adding a timer to your aquarium lights, eventually end up damaging the starter or ballast.

No different than manually turning them on/off each day.

I had a cheap analog dial style timer that stopped switching on all the way which wouldn't supply my lights with full power which I would assume cause issues if not fixed, but have been using a better quality digital one for over a year with no issues.
