Timer for LED's wont work.

ok I just got back from home depot. Picked up 2 GE 15086 digital timers labeled cfl ready, and it works.
I only installed one on the blue lights since there are only 100 of them. off is off.
Now i either need a set of regular blue leds xmas lights, or tear into the box on the set i have, and figure out how to bypass the flassing modes. They are called fairy lights, the whites default to solid on, but for some reason the blues default to random.

I was going to say plug the lights into a power strip then plug the timer in the outlet and the power strip into the timer, probably tried that already tho right?
