Timid juvenile peacock bass?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ha ha moustache and a hairy chest... thanks for the tips - I'll look around for a few medium sized 'friends' for him.

If anyone reading this is from Bris and has a few cheap fish they are wanting to offload I'm your man.

give him time and he will adjust...
if the previous owner had him on pellets already then thats great.
get him to get used to you feeding him.

He's not eating the pellets anymore so each day I drop a couple in and he ignores them. I figure eventually he'll start eating again.

I mentioned in another thread also - is it worth scraping the pellets out afterward to maintain water quality or should I just leave it there for risk of scaring him?

Here are a couple of pics - is the hump likely to stay? That's why I picked him instead of his girly looking mates ;)

YOU SHOULD HAVE!! PICKED upi one or two of his GIRLY lookin mates!!! When the hump is that large and that RED!! The male is ready to go!!!

Actually, no. When he was in a group with his friends he just hid and was very skittish. Being in a pack made him more timid.

As for the hump - it has almost gone, so there goes the theory by the guy that said they were permanent!!

Hopefully he'll come round!
