I am thinking about getting some tinfoil barbs and a flagtail. I found three 5" TB for $13.50 each and three 8" TB for $10 ea. The 8"ers are a little larger right now than I'd like, but it's a better deal, although their fins aren't quite as red. What do you think I should do?

My other question is if a 2" Flagtail would swim with the tinfoil barbs and if a 2"er would do okay w/ larger TB's. Also, if I got the small flagtail, where should I put it (tanks listed in sig)? Or do you think it's a bad idea in any of them. This would be temporarily, not for life as all the fish will outgrow the tanks they're in.

I'm hoping to pick these up tonight, so quick replies would be awesome, although I can wait till sunday if need be (the 5"ers go back up to 18 ea on monday).

What if I got 2 or 3 2" tinfoils an d 1 2" flagtail? do you think that would work? do you think the 20g or 55g would be better for growout (w/ the jar or cichlids)?

My .02 I would get either the 5" or 8" TB and put them in 125g(as long as your filtration supports it) and put the 2" fei feng in the 20g for now. Or you could get the smaller 2" TB's and put them in the 20g, I don't know if flagtail/TB's will school together though never tried it.

Where in Colorado are you at? If those don't work I have some TB's I would like to get rid of. Mine are Barbonymus Altus not Barbonymus Schwanenfeldii. The Altus are not suppose to get so big. Right now mine range from
3" to 5" ish. They may be bigger and they are very healthy. My bigger one's are probably 2 1/2 to 3 inches tall.

from what I can gather (everything i read was confusing to me, lol) they both get red on their fins. im not sure if the smaller size would work if they only get 8". a fully grown jardini might be able to eat them. do you know if either species is more dorsoventrally compressed?

I work off of 58th and I-25.

You are right, they may get eaten. You can tell the difference by their tail fins. The true TB has black along the edge along with the red, the Altus only have the red.

I work off I-70 and Havanah.

Do you know of any good stores to check out?

Why not get them all the same size and small? Its fun to watch them grow too.
