Don't keep them in the 30 for more than 2 months IMO.

they can grow to 12-14" and will grow very fast, about 1 inch per month

X2 I have 3 I bought for dithers in my aro tank. They have grown 1 inch in the last month easy to take care of and hardy. I had 2 that were almost 12'' with my red tail cat that did really well, harty eaters and alawys active.

My tinfoil barbs eat like a pig!! lol and yes they do grow fast but growing will be slow at the 7-9" mark.

Agreed. They grow super fast and will eat all sorts of things. Very peaceful but they get pretty big. Plan on upgrading VERY soon.

i have three red-tail tinfoil barb and two gold tinfoil barbs and i'd have to say the grow extremely fast very easy kept hardy eaters definitely schooler fish and watch the setup when there spooked they tend to dart very fast which can lead to loss of scales if they run into corners or decor
