TinFoil Barb

Yes that happened to me too except this happened after a 50% water change. The fish started to dart fast went up then down darted some more then bellied up. Then the next time I changed the water another TF did the same thing. I think what happens for some reason they go into shock. I thought maybe it was the chlorine remover I never used before. I never had that happen before. Since then it hasn't happened again. I had them 6 years so I was disappointed. I have only one of the oringinal 3. I have had him now 8 years.View attachment 250250

dam ur tank must be very big or your barbs grow pretty slow gypsydancer, I've have my barbs for less than a year and they look 20% bigger than yours.. am i over feeding or power feeding mines?

that is strange I am stumped as to why they died, I do 1/3 water changes try to make the temp close from new water to old, no problems yet and I do have two batteroperated air pumps on the aquarium in case the power goes out.

I have been keeping tinfoils for years and have found that they are extremely hardy when it comes to resisting effects of nitrates, ammonia etc.

BUT they are very sensitive to pH changes.

years ago I had a big barb die right after a big water change too.

it was likely pH shock.

even though the fish were acclimated to the existing pH, a 25% change with water of a much higher/lower pH could do it.

sorry about your fish

I have always found tinfoils very hardy.

I have never been able to kill one.
