Tinfoil barbs for a ~180

for what its worth, my brother has three 8 inch buttikoferi in a 90 gallon with 3 tinfoils.

however, even two years later his barbs are only about 4 inches long. they don't get much food in that tank ...

they do get picked on a lot though. they get harrassed quite a bit..

Redhook silver dollars make great tankmates for big barbs..

for some ideas, here is a shot of my (crowded overstocked lol) old 90 and 65. I had yellow fin barbs in the top (18") and 12 inch tinfoils in the 65 bottom with redhooks.

I had a severum, pink tailed chalceus, clown loaches and some large synodontis cats in there too. any of these fish would make good tankmates for big barbs..

Ah, so the tilapia is a no go.




I'll do some more research. I am probably going to stick with other large barbs, featherfin synos or both. Nice fishes... bit it is kind of crowded you are correct. I've got a looooong time to decide what to keep them with... I don't have the funds yet. I'll check out filament barbs and severums too.
