I'm doing a water change and noticed thousands of little red bugs crawling on the surface of the water. Ive had fish for many years and never seen these before. Anyone have any idea what they are and/or how to get rid of them? Too tiny to take a picture of.

I've never heard of anything like that before. Are the on the surface of the water? Or swimming in it?

on the surface. How they make it i dont know. I have 350gph+a powerhead and air pump on the 55 and 1050 gph on the 150. The surface water is circulating well enough i would think. they kinda look like the tiny red mites you find outside but maybe 5 times smaller

Sounds like bugs i also have; mine jumps on the surface of the tank, from plant to plant;
maybe water fleas not really sure proper name, but i'm not concerned because my fish eat them as supplement, and they're healthy. Maybe your fish too big to snack on them. see if you can scoop some out with your net if you have too many.

Just checked the tank, and they're all gone; think angel fish ate them all. only had ten on the tank yesterday.

you cant have what i have, you wouldnt be able to count them. they are tiny and in the thousands. you probably have nats.
