Tiny SAL

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice! What are you feeding it? I just got a tiny 3-4" 1 today. Looks exactly like yours

Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

he will eat anything. Mostly a mixture of pellets. When he was tiny it was NLS community and now mostly hikari. Only thing he won't eat is other fish. he accidently got into a group of pleco fry grow outs which he could have easily eaten and did not.

Awesome!

Looking great Charney. Mine is pushing a foot now. When do they lose the black with gold speckles? I had assumed by now, but showing no sign of going gray.

I think by 12 inches all the gold was gone on him. My guy has grey but would say no more so then normal for him. I feel bad because I keep on tank hoping him. I can't find a tank where he is not a bully or he doe not get bullied. He just went into the 90 g community tank with some larger cats. hope this goes ok.

Charney,
I was about to start my own thread, but thought I would chip in here. Hope that's ok.

I will be getting a really tiny SAL soon. A LFS has one on order for me. Should be arriving in a week or so.
It is apparently going to be about the size yours was when you first got it. Seems like yours grew really quickly.

How often did you feed it?
How long did you keep it in the small breeder box?

I have a 80L temporary tank I am planning on keeping it in, before moving it on to my main tank.

I got mine at the size of a sperm as well. I kept it in a breeder basket until it got to be about 6 inches. Made it much easier to keep well fed and cleaned. I have it in a five now even though it is about a foot. I feed mine daily, live blackworms at first then frozen blood worms for awhile. Now it is eating pellets.
