@OP, you most likely have baby cherry shrimp or some type of copepod. If you indeed have copepods, they are more than likely harmless Cyclops sp. copepods. They can be a source of food for small creatures like your cherry shrimp.

If they are indeed some type of copepod, how do you get rid of them?

Copepods are harmless...if anything they are beneficial to your tank. There's really no need to try and eradicate them.
