Tiny white worms swimming in water

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did you cut down on your feeding? I'd do a 25% w/c everyday and feed once every 2-3 days..........

they are planaria-harmless. water changes, less feeding and clean the gravel more often(vacuuming tank)

I just finished treating my bichirs for some kind of external flukes, I used parasite clear, it killed everything that crawls in the tank, literally every planaria made a mad dash up the walls of the aquarium but only made it 6-8 inches up before they all became extinct.

Now, I wasn't trying to get rid of the planaria it was only a bonus, I don't think it would be recommended to medicate your tank and stress your fish to remove something that doesn't harm them. But if you want planaria gone, parasite clear will do it.

ALSO i used under half of what the recommended dose was for a tank my size.

Really? How many times am I going to have to explain this? They aren't planaria. Planaria are flatworms. You have nematodes. Nematodes are roundworms that swim in the water column. Only a few large ornate species of planaria can be seen swimming, and there's no mistaking it. Unless you are an aquarist.

it looks like it is snowing in one of my tanks.

i took a high powered magnifying glass and saw the tiny worms moving around on the glass. they can move around, fast.

then there are 100's of them just circulating in the water current.

they do not seem to be affecting the fish (JD's).

they are just annoying and make the water looks cloudy.

i will cut way back on the feeding and vacuum till they are gone.

thank you to everyone that has useful input and for this kick ass website!!!

I would strongly suspect that fry would love to eat them.
