I have three tanks at home for my arowana, flowerhorn, and blood parrot fishes. About three weeks ago, I discovered these tiny worms on my tank glass (all three tanks). They look like little dust or fiber from towels. They appeared about two days after I cleaned the water. After seeing these worms, I did another cleaning (water change, gravel, etc). Now, three weeks later, I'm seeing them again. How do I prevent them from coming back?

I just found a few small worms in my snail nursery. If they move in an "S" shape they are planaria. If they're less than 1/2" long and move in a sort of straight forward, expand contract, inchworm way they may be nematodes. Harmless to fish I believe, planaria not so good for inverts if you have any. Gravel vac and watch feeding for a while.

Just vacuum thoroughly and make sure when you feed that the leftovers are siphoned if not eaten immediately.

It's weird because I just cleaned the flowerhorn's tank two days ago, and the flowerhorn eats all its food right away. We usually throw in one pellet at a time, and it'll eat the instant the pellet touches the water, but its tank had the most worms out of the three.

Could you please take pics of these worms?

Planaria have a triangular head and will float like a leaf if dislodged from the glass. Ugly critters but harmless to fish. Gourami and my mollies will sometimes eat them but most fish will just spit them out.

They are too small for my camera to pick up. They're almost microscopic and look like tiny fibers. They are white in color... can't really see any other detail. If they weren't moving, I would've thought they were just dust.

Could it be something in the water? Sounds like they all appeared at once in all the tanks..

I actually have a 4th tank, but it's only a 10 gallon tank for a few small platys. That tank has always been fine. Is it possible for these things to come from the food? I feed them "Aweek Red" pellets.
