Tiny worms in tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have the same problem in my aro tank. they've also populated my eheim pro 2 canister filter. i had to thouroughly clean out my filter the other week.

i dont over feed my aro. there is no left over food. so i dunno y i keep getting so much of these guys. but now i kinda just live with it. jus do more frequent and smaller wc to keep the population down.

It's a pain to get rid of them. You need to remove the substrate, filters, EVERYTHING ELSE from the tank. Add lots and lots of epsom salt. You should only have fish, water and epsom salt in your tank. Do at least 3 water changes per day until they are all gone. I started on a Friday and had it gone by Sunday night. You will need to have to replace all the filter inserts, substrate, and rocks. Soak the hardware in bleach for two days and rinse on day 3 with dechlorinater(spelling) use a lot.

I did feed them once about 20 minutes before a water change. It helped clear out the ones in their intestine.

Make sure you have plenty of:

salt to add after each water change
dechlorinater to do the water changes
pool filter sand to replace your old substrate
bleach
new filter media
5 gallon bucket(s) to soak anything that is not porous ie water heater, canister filter, hob filter etc. (Everything else should be replaced) rocks, gravel, filter media.

There is more but most ppl won't bother with all of this.
