tiny worms on fish's fins!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Clout is harsh on fishes.... Id say, throw some salt in for now until you find out what the fishes really have. Pics would be good...

Yeah, continued to do more searching and think i will actually stay away from clout all i can. Seems like a really aggresive medecation. I think it could very well be planeria, i may just try and increase water changes and dig the gravel vac throughout my sand substrate more aggressively to see if i can keep the numbers down as i know planeria aren't harmful.

Also, for those who are wondering about pictures I'm going to pull one of the Bluegill out of my tank to get some close up shots of the worms for you guys.

Can anybody confirm if planeria will attach to the fish's fins or not? I cant seem to find anywhere on the internet. But im thinking thats most likely what they are as ive got planeria in my tank, they only ever show up when i do water changes and sift the sand all over though. I will look into Prazi, thanks.

yeah looks like a leech to me to, if they were wild caught that could be why, the larva or whatever could have been microscopic.
the only problem is leech's suck blood so why would they be on the fins... doesnt make sense.

I catch fish in the wild with this all the time, blood flows through the fins too. I would try to pull them off of the Fish and then treat the tank with what was suggested along with salt afterwards..

I've never treated my tank, or any previous tanks with salt either.. For a 125G how much salt would you recomend? Will simple table salt work for this? I apologize for asking so many questions, I've just never had problems with my fish getting sick or anything alike that would require medication or salt.
