They're just about all fully submersible. If they're not, throw it in the trash and get a better heater that is fully submersible.

Interesting, I haven’t paid that much attention to heaters really,

I’ll keep that in mind when I actually need it again, my house is warm and my tank temp is high right now (thankfully I have fish that like it warm)
