I've purchased 3 pairs of convicts, and have them in a bare-bottom 150-gallon black Rubbermaid tub. The filtration is sufficient (as a severe understatement, as it is equipped to more than handle the ammonia from 5 juvenile motoro stingrays) and I have added 3 large pieces of driftwood and two small black clay coffee cups to provide shelter. I feed them once or twice a day.

Is there anything else I could do to help them get down wit' it? I want them to be as comfortable and happy as possible, and if there is anything else I can do please let me know!

Thanks,
-Matt

I find it impossible to keep convicts from breeding, but I think they build nests in the substrate, al least that is what my science teachers cons do so you my want to put in some all purpose sand.

Just be patient. I bought a pair and took them a few weeks to breed. Feeding them live worms also might help.

mine breed again 2 days ago, have wigglers already which is weird since at the other times they didn't wiggle for almost 5 days.

This is easy to do!

Im thinking more and more about using rubbermaid to keep all the fry in, im out of tank space and cannot find any good prices on used tanks.

just add water :)

Yep water changes and it will hapen i promise. its a good way to get free food. oops did i say that.

this is true, but they can be tough to work with at times, hard headed and hard to predict.

yeah give it time, and maybe a large water change. You don't need gravel either i breed mine in a bare bottom tank. (mine took a couple days after i added the female to breed)
