first and only i suggest a bigger tank, or cover the tank with a towel or blanket for a few days with the lights off to calm him down and stop getting stressed out, or second get some black water extract

should help
good luck

bigger tank....

i hear ya but he is only 5" maybe 6" max.... i have a 14" rhom next to him in a 135 and he seems fine,.,,,,,

i would presume 135g would be good for any fish up to 16"........

MikeC it is a true armatus. Ive seen it.

It seems odd he is that skittish. Mine was skittish in the 29QT but in the 125 he is the boss.

How much current do you have in the tank? I run two marineland 1140 (I think that is the model #) that push 300gph each sitting on top of each other blowing in the same direction and the armatus seems to enjoy it.

My armatus developed ick. When a recieved him his face was skined up and after treating with salt for ick it healed in days. He is doing great and not a bit skittish. He has a 75 all to himself. Go lite on the salt if you go this route. I use 6-7oz. a day for 3 days in a 75 gal. It might help relax his ass. The rhom might not help if he can see him. I heard heavy salt is not the best for them

Maybe it's because his tank is right next to a 14" rhom's tank. Can they see eachother?

That's a possibility since he's attacking the glass and not the other fish in the tank..

mine were very skittish when small. they grow out of it. salt wouldnt hurt

current:

3 ac110's , xp3 and a ac 802 p-head...

he does not bash the glass until the lights go off then hes all up and down biting and attacking from inside the tank...

and the tank next to him he cannot see the rhom there is a background between tanks or the rhom would be bashing that glass..

i wonder can he see the manny on the other side of the room?
i've gone to only 1/2 hr. of lights per day....

thanks for the tips... and i have been salting too...
