Try to add more current that goes from side to side, not just across the top.

i made the powerhead and the xp outlet flow in one direction.... i also made a large place on the left of the tank with wood and plants so he feels secure....

maybe 1-2 feeders .. i need to find the arrow in there a new home as he eats a feeder or 2 every now and then.....

all i can say is try to fatten him up as much as u can, but im sure u already are. and give it time, they mellow out. my little one still gets a little jumpy. try feeding him some bigger goldfish to stretch his stomach out so his appetite gets bigger. u'll be supprised how big of a fish they can eat. keep the temp in the mid 80's and give him time, thats about all u can do. oh ya, the aro might be making him jumpy too. mine never got along, especially when the lights go off.

thanks...

nice tip on the big feeder,,, i'm used to p's and they will just widdle it down to fit in their mouth.... i will try to relocate this arrow or maybe put the armatus in a smaller tank until he reaches 10" or so...

Id relocate the aro and keep the armatus alone with a bunch of feeders. Youll be amazed how fast they grow. A member here, diesel mack, grew his armatus from about 3" to 10" in just a few months!
