FYI, Eco Complete comes clean and you can dump it right in the tank without it causing any cloudiness or anything. It sinks right down to the bottom.
Does this come with water in the bag? I read somewhere that one of these substrates came with water and that was included in the weight, so youre actually getting less actual substrate.

and YES, flourite is very messy to clean!!!!

It is slightly damp yes, but there isn't anymore than enough to keep the beneficial bacteria alive. Maybe 1lb of water?

The 20lb bags still go a long way AND best of all NO CLEANING. After hearing the mess Flourite made of my friends tank I wouldn't bother with anything but Eco Complete. I think in the end they both work well, I just don't like cleaning.

flourite does not cause that much of a mess if you wash it like any other sand. put it in your tank and run a hydro sponge filter off a power head the water will be clear again in no time i have it in two tanks and i love it. it would be very helpful to get a plant specific substrate in a low tech tank because im guessing your not dosing much fertz and most low tech plants are heavy root feeders so a nutrient rich substrate should make a noticable difference. if you do go with PFS i would recomend root tabs. the problem with root tabs is to be useful they need to be replaced every few months. hope that helps
