Tips for moving a large Pearsi

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
put them in a 4' tank is asking for trouble(male would probably kill the female if he feels crowded)

Drain the tank down 3/4th of the way and use a pillowcase. You can just wrap them up in it or get them inside it. Saves a lot of splashing.

Though I don't think I'd stick a pair of pearsi in a 4' tank.
100% of this post.

I think i'm going to try to redirect the current in the 120 tomorrow. I don't even think I have the heart to take my male Pearsi out of the 135 gallon tank but I do need to correct the current issues in the reef tank. The Angels seem stressed with all the current. I just moved them 3 weeks ago from a 90 into the 120. Looks like I have a project for Friday.

lol you are going to get wet for sure.

I like to move fish at night when they are sound asleep. Very easy to catch, and much less struggle. Just turn off the light for half an hour. It takes several minutes for them to fully wake up even after you turn the lights back on.

I do agree that moving a large pair from a 6' tank to a 4' tank is not ideal. The extra 2' makes a big difference. Would you be able to plug the 120g?

Good idea. Go with a ball socket tube and you can point it anywhere you want. I had one on a 220 and really liked it.

Can I buy the ball socket tube at Home Depot or a LFS? I've never done this before but this is the route I'm going to take.

I bought mine from my lfs but they are available online too. You can also get a split one to weaken the return.

Could you just get a less powerful pump? Or make a spraybar to distribute the output along the length of the tank.

What he said on both counts.

You can also use a large 3mil plastic bag with a few small holes in the bottom. That's how I move show fish without damaging them. Go slow and obviously remove any tank decorations.
