he get over it, and good call moving the JD on, they can be relentless to an oscar.

stress free, good water quality and feeding he will grow into that tank in no time.

He's grown quite a bit since i first got him. Since the jds have been gone he seems to have come to life, patrolling all areas of the tank. He's even started to get more orange around his "eye" and even some on the edge of his fins in the back. The only issue I have to deal with is territorial between him and the channel catfish, they have been mouthing each other a little bit when he tried to get in the cave. But all is well. And he's recovered from being a cry baby about the change in background

you have a channel cat in the tank?

He might color up more if he had a place to hide that wasn't already occupied. Maybe a big thick bunch of plastic plants that he can mess with when he gets bigger?

all my experiences with oscars, hiding is not something they like to do, they want to be out front and in your face screaming feed me. a hiding oscar is a stressed dull colored oscar.

He's really not a hider. Just tries to fit in the cave to see what's inside. Caught him this morning trying to attack the dogs through the glass.
