Ok I have my one way that I got my female ball python off of live with, but I want to hear some good ways for getting a snake off of live food.........

I'm asking because I want to get my burm off live while it is still a baby, and just wanted some of your opinions.........

ummmm. Well first i'd try the dancing mouse routine with a pair of tongs and warm it up so it is really really warm (such is live prey). Then if it doesn't strike at it, then leave it in with the offending snake over night. Try this a few times. There are all the other things you can do when you have the problem of a non-feeder... braining the food, leaving it in a smaller tub with it over night. I'd try those things first.

Yeah, I'm going through the same process.
Right now I'm stunning/killing them first and dangling with tongs.
Working so far. went through 8 rats this way last night without a hitch.
My little ball refused a f/t, but also refused live, so I'll try him again next week after he sheds.

Doug, you sure it's not already or won't eat F/T??

Yea I called Ming about an hour after I got home and talked to him about it and he said it's only eating live.........

I actually even tried a prekilled mouse cuz I had some at home but it wouldn't even try to go for it............

Damn I might have some work ahead of me then..

I used to dangle a live rat with a pair of tongs to get his attention and then pull the switch w/ a F/T once he got into feed mode. It worked for my haitian boa.

Okay... there are several methods:

- Warming it up to mouse's core body temperature
- Wiggling mouse
- Scenting it with a live mouse
- Try different sizes
- Using different coloured mice
- Prekill
- Braining
- Bloodletting

You might have to use several in combination...
