Tips For Switching to F/T

Burmese? How did you get Burmese out of a Ball? Burmese are great feeders... not great feeding response when they get too be too big to handle though.

Thanks for the responses you guys.........What I did with my ball before was knock the mouse out and when its twitching, dangle it from tweezers and feed so they still have the body heat, and it looks like I am shaking it with the tweezers. Then after a few times of doing that I switched to a preheated F/T mouse, and the ball took right to it............

I am not so sure this will work with the burm though...........

It actually is a Burm that I am trying to ween off live, you must have just been mistaken cuz I asked for different techniques other then what I used on my ball.................

Ah... hurrah for sleep-deprived reading skills.

Damn I might have some work ahead of me then..

Your GTP actually shouldn't be to hard to ween off live.......he is only big enough to eat pinkies right now, so after a few feeds I would just try to feed him a F/T pink and he might switch over rather quick and easily........

Thanks for the hope.. lol gonna try to do F/T first though.

You were right doug, left the thawed pinkie slung over on his perch and 1 hour later and I came back and he was gulping it down.

u gotta be careful with the f/t, i had a cali king snake that i started off on the f/t but he ended up getting sick b/c it was freezer burnt (from the pet store).

make sure your burmese doesnt feed on you :D

Anyway, hmmm, I place my frozen mouse to my heat lamp, wait until it thawed and warms up .. then just simply dump it in front of my snake. It will grab it instantly.

Try leaving the F/T feeder in the enclosure over night. I can see where a neonate burm might refuse F/T but after a few months they will normally eat just about anything. I remember seeing a pic in REPTILES magazine where a burm was eating a thawed raw turkey leg. LOL!!
