what about a less expensive RD female? or a female convict? just thinking...maybe it would help bond them.have they bred before? some choices for sites can help-flat rocks, different pots, etc.
You have to realize man her whole world was flipped upside down and inside out when she was taken out of the lake. Imagine the sheer amount of stress she underwent from the whole ordeal. I honestly wouldn't expect a spawn so soon and your more than like going to have to be very patient with her getting ready to spawn. That is if she wants to. She needs to get settled and used to living in an aquarium before shes ready to breed IMO.
How big are the fish? The male? the female?
Thats what I thought. In my experience, your female will not apawn with your male, for the reason that she is larger than he is. Female Cichlids want a strong aggressive male to spawn with, not one that is smaller than. I have never had a female spawn with a male that was smaller. I would suggest separating them until he is significantly bigger than her, or get your self smaller females. I have lost more females when they have been of equal size to the male. The female will continue to challenge the male to see if he is worthy, which a lot of the time results in a dead fish or 2 extremely thrashed fish.
imo the best thing to do right now is put up the divider and give them time to growThanks but this is my only WC female and idk where I would get anymore but when ever he gets by he chases her around idk if he has dominance over her
