I picked up a match pair from rapps.beautiful blue male about 5" female is about 4" i have them in few other parachromis. The makes has def taken to her. Staying by her doing the weird shimmy shake thing by her. I see a few spots where they moved sand and every other wish is warned off by him. Anything i can do to help encourage breeding? I did a big warm water change last night.

All my fish like to spawn after a good cold water change. I look at it like this, Its like wet season, all lakes and rivers fill with good fresh cold water, all the wild life love it including the fish.

What temperature is the new water you add?
Best time to breed big, mean new worlds is when they're small!

I'd condition them with red wiggler (composting) worms or earthworms. Skip a water change and then do a large one.

But spawning slows their growth considerably.....it doesn't make sense to stunt their growth before they're done growing. A 13 year old girl can have a baby, but that doesn't mean it's healthy for her

I agree with Frank. Let it ride until they get ready. Once it starts there is no off switch. Unless of course the male kills her.

Humans and fish grow quite differently. Breeding or not, dovii will get too big for just about any home aquarium eventually.

If your goal is to successfully spawn them, do it when they're small and they don't need a 12' tank...

that doesn't sound like something a responsible fishkeeper would do. I'll pass on that one, thanx
