Tips on fixing acrylic top brace?

Do not use metal please.

There are a couple of diff ways you can do this. If it was my tank, I'd do the following:

Please look at the picture. Sorry its a bit messy.

A: although you may be tempted to round this area off or simply remove, do not, leave this area up for glue surface. Will explain in a sec.

B: you can cut this out

C: You need to buy min 1/2" thick acrylic sheet. Cut: size will be the length of the tank (inside length) and width should be around 4"s. You will glue from the inside. Use the thicker weld on (forgot what number). Do not use the water like weld on. Tape and cover the entire inside of the tank. If you get any weld-on on the surface, you will not be able to wipe off or clean.... unless you sand and polish which is a separate topic. The "secret" here is that you will have to weld on the 1/2" side of the piece you are gluing to the front pane of the tank. + the area I have highlighted in green.

E: You will have to glue another piece (the same size as piece C). The piece goes inside the tank.

D: With both C & E pieces glued together, you can now glue the braces. You can use one brace in the middle or opt for two braces. Up to you. But keep in mind, if you do 2 braces
make sure you have enough open area to put in/out potential large fish.

When gluing, use clamps. Medium tension....in other words do not tighten as hard as you can, but do apply enough tension to prevent items from moving. When clamping use a piece of wood between the clamp and acrylic to prevent damage to the acrylic.

Hope this helps. Good luck :)
