Tips on growing plants in a HOB filter?

I think this is a rather silly trend I've seen lately.

It's either this or deep sand beds. And people are still scared of DSB, so pothos to the rescue! But I find DSB more effective so far, just not as compatible with as many species.

I'm talking specifically about putting these in a HOB... I love a nice riparium.

youll be fine in your penguin. look at my pic. Doesn't really matter where they go, water flows through no matter what. I have mine behind my filter pads in the back. Tank is doing great.

aclockworkorange, you're right. ghetto. but my plants are growing healthier now than in a pot and i like that

just curious, is there any hope to grow tomatoes of strawberries in these things?

you're supposed to use already growing plants. wash them thoroughly under water before placing in the tank, as you really don't want dirt/fertilizer/etc in the tank. Can soak roots in water for a day if youre paranoid.

no idea about tomatos and strawberries. I would research the individual plants and look at what nutrients they prefer.
