i have had these female retics for 4 days and they still wont eat...i have tried everything i can think of...i have more live black worms comming in tomarrow...they didn't eat the last bit of worms i put in...is there anything/ tricks to get them to eat?...i have tried cut crawler and they ignore it aswell as ghost shrimp...my males took to eatting fast, but these females got me worried cause they are getting thinner...i am starting to see the "pelvic bones" and they are lossing some color in their discs...thanx..are females more stubborn then the males or am i just that lucky...

Find out what the ray was eating before you got um'. Retic's are one if not the hardest to convert to different foods. So, first step is find out what it was eating in the first place.

keep the tank dark.

are they wild caught? have you treated with anything? were they eating before you purchased?

what size tank? tankmates? filtration?

answer all of these and then some more answers might come in to you.

hmm also maybe try some enitce and garlic guard from seachem. dosent hurt to try. hopefully they start eating those black worms though with the new shipment..... seems like you are buying them all the time though so why dont you start getting them 1lb at a time instead of 1/4. i beleave he is running a special for 1lb for 25 at plecocaves.com

i got them 3 days after the supplier got them so i don't think they really ate there, but if they did it would have been black worms...

tank is dark most of the time

are they wild caught? i beleve so

have you treated with anything? prazi pro and jungles fungus clear( one of the females that i got had hard core fungus(she died)

were they eating before you purchased? couldn't say as the supplier said they feed black worms, but they were fresh...i had them shipped in

what size tank? 48"x13"x21"(same as the males and they weren't bothered by it)

tankmates? 1 bgk, 1 angel, 1 3.5" pbass, some clean feeder rosies and ghost shrimp...

filtration? 2 hobs with 750gph with bio balls and extra carbon

answer all of these and then some more answers might come in to you.

i will try to get some entice and garlic guard...i have upped it to 1/2lb this order...i am tring to keep them fresh and rotated, as i have to get a small refigerator for my fish...the wife hates it when i put it in the main refigerator...that is about how much i can get a lb for with out having to pay for shipping...

Retics can take up to 2 weeks before they will even think about eating when they are just imported.
Keep plenty of ghost shrimp and live black worms on them, thats the only 2 things ive ever had luck with them eating.Extreamly good water quality, temp i would keep at least 84 for them.

my males took to black worms and blood worms fast(the second and third day)...thats why i was concerned with these females not going after anything...even though they hunt and "smell the water" (raise their front disc part) when food is entered, but never eat...
