Tire Track Eel question...

Well, I got him to eat some shrimp so that's one more thing I know he will take. Going to check into some of the other suggestions this afternoon. Might check at the bait shop for wax worms since the nearest lfs is a ways away from my town.

Also...I tried turning of the water filter....worked like a charm. Good idea.

Called the bait shop and the guy told me that he used to keep fish and if I want to feed them wax worms I will have to cut the "sharp end" off the worm first so the fish doesn't get hurt. Any truth to that?

I think thats because of stories that the wax worm (same story with superworms or other insect larve) can bite the fish after being eaten or while being eaten. Lots of people will say this is crazy because they have been feeding them to their fish for years without incident, personally I would tend to agree, I'm sure it may have happened in the past but would be something more towards an anomaly.

I freeze mine first (for silly humane reasons), they thaw out just fine and that way you can buy them in bulk.

Update....I bought some waxworms a while back. He had no interest in them at all. Tossed in a night crawler and he was all over it.

When you still had him? I'm hoping that doesn't mean he died.
