does anybody have experience with the Jager brand heaters?

That is what I ran in my old 55 gallon. Got 7 good years out of it and sold it with the tank. As far as I know it's still working fine to this day 3 years later.

Good heater brand!

ive always bought the best ones and they still wind up having problems. i just want a guaranteed solution. But it looks like that doesn't exist.

Jaeger makes great heaters........and by the way, your "guaranteed solution" was one post up! (#9)

I've had one overheat, i don't recommend jager brand.

Went Marineland Stealth's and haven't looked back, great heaters those stealths.

So it would be better to run 2 heaters on each end of the tank, only heaters that are rated for abot 35-40 gallons for a 75?

what about the 30 gallon, two small 10-20 gallon heaters?

depends on were you keep the tank i only run 1 250 watt heater for my 150gal and my 220 gal. they are hardly ever on and tank temp stays 82 all the time. But i run the same 250 watt in a 55 thats in the sitting room because its in a high traffic area near the front door. stealth works wonders i wont have another glass heater in any tank again.

There is no guarantee in anything. You can only do the best you can and hope for the best.

You should see how your tank runs without heaters first. You'd be surprised how warm the circulation pumps, etc. keep the water.

I would think this is bad advise if you already have TROPICAL fish. By the time you figure out you need heaters it's too late.

I have stealth and jager heaters both have been very reliable over the years. I dont put glass heaters in tanks with big banging fish.

I have used many heaters and I find that visatherm to be very reliable. I also use multiple heaters. After hearing good things for years about Jags I bought one and was disappointed. It was probally just an isolated incident but I have not bought one since.

I have 2 Visi-Therm Deluxe heaters, the 50W failed in less than 2 years - it overheated and cooked a lot of my fish, the 200W still works and keeps a very stable temperature for 2+ years and running but I can see moisture build up inside of it. I would not buy another Marineland including the Stealth.

I've had very good experiences with my Rena Cal Top Light Excel 300W and Hagen Aquaclear 300W. The very bottoms are a little burnt on the inside but they both keep very stable temperatures.

Jagers have the best rep by far. I also find the Hydor ETH to be very attractive since it is hooked up to a canister's output instead of inside the tank.

Some Eheim canisters have built-in heaters.
