not too long ago i posted a thread about my trigger that i picked up from lfs impulsively and wasnt sure on the id, i knew it wasnt what the lfs had it labeled as. as it converted out of its stressed colors it is blatently a baby titan. any one have any first hand information about keeping titans that would benefit me? i have done research about the husbandry of the titans just looking for first hand experiences that may benefit me.

Haha well ive owned two.

Raised one from 2 inches to 4inches ... then eaten.

Had a 8 inch one that my queen trigger ripped to shreds.

I had a good amount of time with these little guys though. Any questions in particular? All i can really say is the aggression will really matter on your personal fish.

well here's where im at. he is in with my moray's and my honeycomb grouper and doing fine at holding his own. he is about 3 1/2-4" grouper is 9-10" g. tile is 18" 2 snowflakes 1 is 18" 1 is 13" and my 18" whitemouth. they are currently in a 90 that will become the sump for my 150 and be in my pond room in the basement. this would be fine for life for all of them exept the trigger. i may keep the 90 visible so i can possibly have the whitemouth in there rather than with all the others since there will be such a diff in size. i am going to build a 10'long/3'front2back/4'tall plywood tank with either a 4'x8' or 2 4'x4' viewing windows in the front with a covered top that extends 8"-10" forward of the front of the tank it will sit directly on the floor and be used as a bar/table with 4 tempered glass tops 2'x2' that can be lifted for tank maintainance. and so when your sitting at the bar you can see the massive titan in the tank and if your anywhere else in the room you can see him through the front plexi windows. my only concern is that i dont know what else to put in with him as he will be massive and love the giant tank but i would like to have 1 or possibly 2 tankmates for him. was thinking possibly a panther grouper, a harlequin sweetlips, a vlamingii tang, or a queen angelfish. any suggestions other than these will be greatly appreciated, or pros and cons of the fish listed.

nothing? no one has any ideas or reasons why one fish might do better as a tankmate than the others?

Heh well i wouldn't worry to much about the whitemouth eating him. They are not to much of a fish eater. As far as tank mates, trial and error. Yes your going to have to risk dumping 100$ down the drain everytime you put something in there with him. If i where you i would get a trigger friend for him and get that 150 very soon so you can begin to grow him up with some buddies. Socialize him, i know that sounds weird but it has worked for me. Find the stock that works, usually when young almost any stock can work, and they should be buds for the rest of the time they live.

I just added a 14inch squirrel fish that my 10inch blue line destroyed. Then the eel ate the remains... gah.

im not worried about the whitemouth eating the trigger by any means im worried about down the road the whitemouth deciding the snowflakes and the g.tile look like tastey little morsels. and the only reason i dont think ill put the whitemouth in the triggers massive tank is that i dont want the trigger to decide to eat the whitemouth like an overgrown nightcrawler. whitemouth 48" titan trigger 30"(but 3x the body mass with wicked teeth and temperment) i forgot to mention i have been thinking about going with either a formosa or a twin spot wrasse either will get up to 2' and have attitude to match the titans.

A big wrasse or puffer would be a good mate that wouldn't aggravate him but still defend them selfs. Try not to build a mind set that your titian is going to be a devil, otherwise he will. Keep him just like you would any other fish.

unicorn tang or a clown tang would be a great choice as well.

You can never go wrong with a grouper

the honeycomb grouper will probably go in the big tank with him he is a little grouper, hasnt grown in almost 2 years and is only 9-10" he was a free gift when i bought a tank. there is always someone trying to get rid of a panther grouper or a diff kind of grouper that outgrew there tanks so im sure the titan wont be lonely. i think it would be amazing to see a titan trigger (largest trigger) a queen angel (largest angelfish) vlamingii tang (largest tang) and a formosa wrasse (one of the largest wrasses) all in the same tank. keep one of each of the fish most salt keepers wish they could keep.

ps i am not going into this thinking my titan is going to be an ******* if i was i would be planning a single fish tank not trying to build a list of possible good candidates to be his tankmate(s)

Make sure to get them soon, and grow them together if you can. That will lower the % of a horror story one day you wake up.
