What kind of filtration do you use and how do you combat algae?

well i combat algae using UV lights and plecos...but honestly algae is really good for ponds..it provides extra protection for the fish's outer layer..plus its really healthy wen the fish eat it.. a famous koi breeder in malaysia banned all plecos from his ponds because of that fact.i was advised against getting rid of the algae...but i did it for looks..
