TO ADD AIR OR NOT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't just add AIR, add a sponge filter. You get the best of both. I have a sponge filter in all of my tanks running off of a battery backed up air pump. So in case the power goes out, you are still good to go on filtration and on oxygen. If you are considering a sponge filter, IMO Poret is much better over the competition.

Thanks everyone for all you replies.I have bookmarked the website that sells the Poret Filters let me ask where do you get the battery backup pump? I'm currently running a Fluval Q2 with standard airstones. I had thought og trying to get one of those APC battery backups like they use for computers I know it goes by size but how long will this battery operated airpump go without power?

Mines somewhere from 12-24 hours. I've ran it all the way to 12 no prob. Depends on the wattage of ur pump. And my local lfs has old Penn plex double a battery powered air pump for 10$.

I use the airpod. Works fine plugged in then on battery when power goes out. The only negative is that it is a bit loud. I had to put it in a box to muffle the sound, but its not too loud. I have all of my other equipment running off of APC server batteries.
