Howdy,

Yeah, I've had a drip for the past 2 1/2 years. No new decor. And the p that just died had been in a bare 75 gal quarantine tank since May. Had it been poisoning in the large tank, that would've long washed out over the past few months in a different tank, fish would've recovered instead of continuing downhill...

Pls keep up the ideas. It's not that I want to shoot them down, but so far nothing rings a bell...

Thx, HarleyK

i was just asking because once i moved to a house on a well and added a drip system all my cichlids came down with horrible hith. i think something in the untreated water, despite using a carbon block, caused the hith.

I would seriously consider breaking the tank down and do a fresh clean. It cant hurt anything ya know? Maybe the silicone is mold resistant?

I actually think you were onto something with your earlier post about dominance of one fish. Although there is no open fighting, no fins torn, no bites. But out of the two left in the large tank, one is yet again hiding. When I chase him out, he gets "stared down" by the largest one.

Same as jp, maybe one is just overly aggressive and he stresses the rest out, maybe a bigger tank!

Yea I can see your point, stress can and will kill a fish, especially over the span of a year, maybe try isolating the leader in ur 75 for now and see if maybe things get better?

Good call, I just did it the other way around this morning: now I have two in the 75 gal, and the huge dominant fish solo in the 220.
I think there were a couple of factors: the two Piraya that eventually died had bad HITH. For whatever reason. I wished I knew. Then there are two that are bullied, and one huge dominant fish.

That much for a shoal of /\/\onsters...

Bw? Blackwater? Yes, I added the Kent extract for a while last year, but that got annoying w/ my drip system. Cannot be infused like dechlor & ferts because of stability issues.

Theres always going to be a peck order , It just gets worse with the less fish you have in the shoal , things are'nt as dispersed like in a large shoal . But then you have to take into account personality of the individual fish . I hope it works out HarleyK ! Keep us posted :)
