Thanks for the ONLY relevant post in this thread. I am looking at a 2009 Trek 1.5 or maybe one of the Specialized mid-level bikes. A 2009 Specialized Dolce perhaps.

Anyone has experience with those bikes? I can probably have them at sub-$1K price since they are this years model and their 2010 should be coming in by now.

Have you decided on a brand? The leading brands of premium bikes are TREK, SPECIALIZED, GIANT, RALIEGH, FUJI and there are more. I'm a TREK rider. I also have a SPECIALIZED mountain bike. Go to the websites of these bike manufacturers and look at the various models. Bike manufacturers are good about posting prices on their sites. They don't try to hide their prices. Lance Armstrong endorses TREK and has a bike that goes for over $6K. $800 will get you a nice road bike, right at or possibly just above the beginner's model. You're right, lbs are going to offer you a good price. But go to the websites and check out their MSSR prices, so that you know what you should be paying and you know where to start your negotiations. Good luck.

Here you go Noah.. Go to work with your swaggggg

^Me likey the bikey! I'd rock that for sure!

Specialized, trek, giant, felt. The big names offer the best price per spec no doubt if you are buying complete. I'm out of the loop with road bikes, mainly a mountain and bmx rider. I have a specialized allez, i think its an 04 with shimano 105 stuff on it, still works even though its a little old now.

And definitely go for a 09 leftover...good was to save $.

'09 for sure and sub-$1K definitely.

Here's my roadie . . .Mine is in all black and I added clips for shoes and removed the toe clamps.

Nice!!! What model is that? Aluminum frame? I have to say that Trek road bikes look really good.

Lol. I thought you ment motorcycle too. I was like 15 miles is long?! Damn he's lazy. I know nothing of bicycles. Hell even my mountain bike in elementary school had a little engine on the back that I could get about 20mph out of. Why would you want a bicycle? Isn't that a waste of callories?
