to buy three or one?

i loved the three knifefish i had in my tank. but i think they got stressed out or something. one of them was always getting picked on by my tetras, and soon developed a body fungus, where a greyyish slime developed on their body and it soon died. after it died, my other larger one contracted the same disease. i went to petsmart to pick up medication for the fungus, it showed it would fix on the box, the exact symptoms it had, so i purchased it, got home, and the other one was dead. so now i am left with one african brown knifefish, who is very skittish. he comes out when the lights are out or when he senses food. if i drop in frozen bloodworms, and sit in my nearby chair and dont move, hell come out to forage the bottom for the broken off thawing worms, but if i make a move he darts back to his hiding spot. i was thinking about getting a black ghost knifefish if he dies, but he is looking healthy. my other larger ones took a week before they started to eat, but all is well with my one knifefish. some are saying that the body fungus was contracted from where i purchased them. but yet, petsmart had them in their tank for weeks until i bought them, and now they have about 5 large knifefish in that tank. however i know that it would be bad to put a BGK in the tank as it would kill my other knifefish, im pretty sure of it.

p.s. thats my story and im stickin to it
