I just picked up another 75g with stand yesterday that Im gonna attempt saltwater with...It was covered with coraline algea which was a PITA to get off, but its clean. My plan was to drill the tank for a corner overflow, but much to my surprise, when I cleaned the bottom I noticed this nice sticker...

Now my question is, since this says DO NOT DRILL on the bottom, can I drill the back glass, or is the whole tank made out of tempered glass? AAAAAAAAAAAAAnd if it is, it may go up for sale cause Im not a fan of the HOB overflows...just cant bring myself to use one.

idk how tp determine weather or nlt its all tempered glass but i do know its not a good idea to risk it when ur unsure.. just currious, whats ur reasoning against a hob overflow? i use one on my 125gal with pbass and i love it..

Hello; I tried to cut tempered glass once. It exploded into thousands of small pieces. Contact the mfg and find out for sure about the sides. Wear safety glasses if you decide to try as the glass pieces will fly.

LOL...i watched a couple youtube videos and one of them was 2 guys tryin to drill the bottom of a tank like mine and it exploded, hence why i asked about the sides....my reasoning behind not liking them is when or if the power goes out, the siphon breaks, and theres not guarantee on wether itll restart or not...i dont know, ,maybe im just bein too cautious when it comes to water potentially flooding out my neighbors downstairs lol

It should be the bottom only that's tempered. There is a way to check for tempered glass using polarized sunglasses and a laptop computer screen I'd suggest looking up and checking for sure. Unless you just want to build your own overflow you can check out glass-holes.com. They have some nice overflow kits and it comes with the glass cutting holesaw as well.

I have a couple of these glass-holes.com overflows and they work great! They don't take up a lot of tank space too.

The glass-holes website is interesting, i could do the 700gph setup...now if i can figure out if the back is tempered or not lol....when i knock on the bottom and the back its not even close to the same sound
