You are up against an underperformer when it comes to mech filtration

I love Eheims, just browse my posts. My oldest has now been running for 20 years non-stop (yehaaa).

But the 2080 is a crappy design. Get some micron filter floss on top of the top, white pad. I am running one 2080 on a lightly stocked 75 gal now, and it's sub-standard even on that small tank.

Sorry to not have better news for you :(. My advice would be to cancel the order and get the Classic line instead. 2250 or 2260. I have a 2262 on my 220 gal, and couldn't be happier.

I have one on a Rio 400 with 2 Oscars and pals and never have an issue with water quality/clarity, I open it up and clean the pre filter once per week (it takes a couple of minutes) with each water change. It does a good Job with Bio filtration and syphoning out the poop is my job every few days.

The water flow from the spray bar is a little disappointing after replacing my Tetratec 2400 with it but that made one hell of a noise which is why I had to get rid of it and when you consider how much media it is passing through, flow rate isn't everything.

I thought the 2080's were good according to the past reviews?

Well are they?
What size tank, and what is the stock?
I have a 2180 that I bought for a 180 gallon.I also have a Classic 2262 to go with it.I bought the 2180 for the internal heater, and to hook a UV up to it,rather than the 2262.So I basicall have a expensive heater with a added UV,that also helps filter my tank.I would not want it for the only filter on this tank, but if I had 2, and not the 2262,I feel they would get the job done.

But as Harley K pointed out, they do have a lot of bypass, because of how they are designed.A 2250, 2260,or a 2262 do get the job done better IMO.

They are good filters IMO.But there are better out there.

LOL probably. You live and learn.Like I said, the 2180 was for the heat and the added UV.Just cost some coin to get it done though.
