I mm using 2 x 2080's for a 240 gallon tank with 3 - 4 arowana as livestock, will this be ok? anyway i have not ordered them yet any other viable cheaper alternative to the 2080's

I havethe 2180 and bought another one because of the ease of cleaning and the built in heater. I have 16 adult frontosa and they breed like rabbits. I bought another because I was going to put it on my 125g and have two frontosa tanks, but I decided to just put a old filstar on the 125 and use it as a growout tank. I have never had any problems with mechanical filtration.

So I am good with the 2 x 2080's right ? for my 240 gallon?

Bio: yes.
Mech: no.

I have a 2080 and I love it. I change my media every 3-6 months. I use a Rio foam block as a prefilter. This way I can extend all the crude being sucked into the canisters. Two 2080 alone won't be good enough for mechanic filter. You need to add a hang on the back filter or a AC powerhead with filter. I have a generic brand powerhead like the AC powerhead filter design. I just rinse the foam once a week and it does the job.

I run 2 x 2080's
I open them every six months and replace the fine filter and check the other filter sponge that normally lasts me a year.
I had only one prob with the 2080 . The flow decreased dramaticly and I found it to be a whole family of snails in the flow marker window . A strip and clean and some snail treatment sorted it out .

If I needed another filter I would buy a 2080 again .
