To heat or not to heat that is the ?

i'm with everyone else you should have a heater.
i believe your fish will live with it BUT, it won't be the healthiest of conditions.
think of it like this, we all went the absolute best for our fish right? the heater is whats best, not having one is merely livable for them.

I have 3 heaters and I hate them. A friend got electrocuted when one of his oscars broke one of the heaters. After that I sold all my frontosas and put up all my heaters and said never again will I use them.

My water temp is stable all summer at 74 and in the winter it drops slowly to 70 and stays there all winter.

If you want people to tell you it's a good idea to keep tropical fish at 70F, they won't. If you want them to tell you about options available if your fish bashes up heaters, all you have to do is ask.

You could get a guard, or use a metal heater like people have suggested, or you could use an inline heater to take the heater out of the tank altogether.

P.S. Electrocuted specifically means he got killed. If that's what you meant, I give you my condolences on the loss of your friend.
