To much filtration?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I run an emp400 emp280 xp1 and xp2 on a 60, so no I don't think it's too much. I'm turning that tank about 13-15 times an hour. Tank houses several loricariids, tetras and a large angelfish. I use spray bars for the canisters firing directly at the back wall of the tank so as to not create a whirlpool in the tank. As long as your current in the tank doesnt overwhelm your fish, you are perfectly fine with that setup. Those emperors are probably a bit closer to 300 gph with media, pads and intake hose, do you should be good

Depends on stock. But sounds okay to me for a single SH. How big is it? And I think they are illegal in FL or most of USA if not all. And you won't actually get 800 GPH from both filters especially when they are full of media, but that also depends on what kind. Usually when a filter is filled with media it gets less than the manufacturer's suggested output.

I have 2 Emperors on my 55 with 2 Oscars in it. Will be moving the Oscars soon. But am making plans to hook the emperors right up to a tank under the big tank and run 2 FX5s on the big tank. With an Overflow down to the small tank and a pump back to the big tank. Hopefully creating one LARGE water volume being filtered by 2 FX5s and 2 Emperors. All to house a Couple of Os, Maybe a Pleco or two and a few Clown Loaches. But not sure of the Stock due to the fact that the Bigger tank is between 90 and 100 Gallons.

They may be Illegal throughout the USA but I pulled 7 of them out of the waters in NJ along the Delaware this year. Sorry to say they are not on my list of fish to release. And they suck for bait. Such a waste.

They are illegal to keep in every part of the US. Of course, that doesn't mean you won't find them in rivers.
